What does L-theanine do for you? It is used to help prevent and treat conditions, including:

  • Anxiety, depression and other mood-related disorders
  • Insomnia and trouble sleeping
  • Cognitive loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
  • Stroke
  • High blood pressure and other cardiovascular problems
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Schizophrenia
  • Poor attention span
  • Substance dependence
  • It may help improve the effects of drugs used to treat cancer drugs

L-theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) and the Bay bolete mushroom (Xerocomus badius).1 L-theanine is also available in supplement form.

Clinical trials suggest L-theanine has antianxiety effects and promotes relaxation, sleep, cognitive function (processing and understanding information), and more.

Different types of tea have different amounts of L-theanine. One study suggested white and green teas contain more L-theanine than oolong and black.7 Prepared teas were found to have anywhere from 5 to 36 milligrams (mg) of L-theanine per cup.

Hey!

This is where the Anons, weirdos, and common sense people hang out. I’m not normal nor do I want to be. Now imagine what your higher self looks like through the same lens—coded with purpose, armored in truth, and broadcasting on a frequency most still can’t hear.
