Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the third most commonly diagnosed type of cancer and a leading cause of death in the Western world. Although family history is an important risk factor for CRC development, only 15% of new cases have been linked to hereditary causes. In fact, the majority of CRCs (80%) occur sporadically and are associated with acquired risk factors, such as lifestyle and diet [25,26].
